Sharing Growth Mindset Strategies for Today's Recruitment Leaders
The Alumni Healthcare Staffing team had an incredible experience at this year's MAPRA Annual Conference in Annapolis, Maryland and one of the standout moments came from our own Chief Sales Officer, Evan Corbisiero, who took the stage to present on a topic that sits at the heart of everything we do: the Power of a Growth Mindset.
The energy in the room was electric. Attendees engaged, asked sharp questions, and kept the conversations going long after the session wrapped. This was a true testament to how deeply this subject resonates with healthcare staffing and recruitment professionals today.
What Is a Growth Mindset and Why Does It Matter in Healthcare Staffing?
At its core, a growth mindset is the belief that abilities, intelligence, and talent are not fixed, they can be developed through effort, learning, and perseverance. It's a concept rooted in the research of Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck, who found that the view you adopt about yourself profoundly affects the way you live and work.
In a field as fast-moving and high-stakes as healthcare staffing, the difference between a fixed and a growth mindset can be the difference between a team that stalls when things get hard and one that finds a way through. People with a growth mindset see challenges as opportunities to grow, view effort as the path to mastery, and tend to be more resilient when facing setbacks. These are all qualities that define the best recruiters, leaders, and healthcare professionals we know.
What the Room Took Away
Evan's session explored how embracing a growth mindset at both the individual and organizational level can transform the way staffing teams operate, from how recruiters handle rejection, to how leaders coach their teams, to how agencies build lasting relationships with clients and candidates.
The feedback from MAPRA attendees was phenomenal. Questions poured in, and conversations continued long after the session ended. It was clear that this wasn’t just a feel-good concept; it was practical, actionable, and long overdue in the discussion around healthcare workforce development.
A huge thank you to the MAPRA organization and its board members for creating the kind of environment where these conversations happen. Being given the platform to contribute to such a community of dedicated physician recruitment professionals was a privilege we don't take lightly.
